I totally agree with beatsource to be quite honest, i can not add much more than him because he told you about everything that was wrong with this song.

Changing the feel of the song was the worst choice you've made though, me and my girlfriend listened to it, and when we heared that the vocals / trumpet sounded way different on the beat, we were like: No! X_X

BUT!

You were speaking of buying 'better headphones'.

Then here comes problem number 2: Headphones can NOT create enough bass for mixing. You will always get a very bad mix because the bass in headphones sound a LOT different than with monitors + subwoofer.

Let's look at it scientifically:

Soundwaves:
high sounds: Small, tight waves, going up and down very fast.
Low sounds: Stretched, long waves, going up and down slowly.

The longer a soundwave ( look at sines, saw's, these kind of soundwaves ) take to go up and down, in other words, the more they are stretched, the longer distance they need to create any sound.

Because a headphone is right against your ears, the subwoofer soundwaves don't have the required distance to create the sound.

So Naturally...

There are nó good headphones for mixing.

Headphones are for production

Monitors + Subwoofer for eventual mastering / equalizing.

I hope i helped you out just a little bit with my awfully long story.

I would've enjoyed the song without the clipping and wrong feel though ; )

Changing scales is okay. But the difference at around 1:20 was way too dissonant, you should have modulated your way there, or sticked to the tune.

It was good and stuff, but the drums were way too soft, or well, differently said, the damn high lead instrument was about 200% harder than anything else.

The melody though, was just amazing.
